Sometimes a yard just needs to breathe. That was exactly the situation here - beds that had gotten overgrown and tangled over the years, with shrubs and groundcover creeping past any clear boundary. It was the kind of yard that looks fine at a glance but feels cluttered the closer you get. The bones were good. It just needed a reset.

We cleared out the overgrown plant material and opened everything up. Then we laid down fresh decorative rock across the beds - wrapping around the front of the home, hugging the foundation, and extending out around the existing trees. The result is a clean, defined look that ties the whole yard together without asking much of the homeowner going forward. No mulch to refresh every year. No constant trimming to keep beds in check.

That's the real value of a rock bed done right. Once it's in, it stays looking sharp with minimal upkeep. The edging holds a clean line between the rock and the lawn, which is what separates a polished yard from one that just looks like rock was dumped and spread. Getting those curves smooth and consistent takes more time than people expect - but it's what makes the finished product actually look intentional.

Whether it's the front yard, the sides of the house, or beds that wrap around feature trees like you see here, the approach is the same. We assess what's there, decide what stays, and build the new layout around the existing plants and structures that are worth keeping. Good landscaping works with what's already on the property - it doesn't fight it.
