Old precast steps have a pretty short lifespan. They crack, they shift, and after enough freeze-thaw cycles they start looking rough - and more importantly, they stop being safe. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The original steps were lifted out, the area was cleared down to bare soil, and we started fresh.

We formed and poured a brand-new set of concrete steps from the ground up. The new entry is wider than what was there before, which makes a real difference - more landing space, easier to navigate, and a much cleaner look against the front of the house. This is the kind of concrete flatwork that holds up for decades when it's done right.

The finished steps came out sharp. Clean lines, a brushed texture finish on the treads for grip, and crisp edges throughout. Compare that to what we pulled out - worn, crumbling precast blocks strapped together and past their useful life - and the difference is hard to miss.

A lot of homeowners don't think about their front steps until there's a real problem. But your entry takes a beating every single day, and upgrading to poured concrete means you're not patching or replacing every few years. It's a one-time job that adds both safety and value to the home.

We take the prep work seriously on jobs like this. Proper excavation, solid forming, and a clean pour are what separate a long-lasting result from one that starts failing in a few seasons. The wide, level platform at the top gives plenty of room at the door - exactly what a front entrance should feel like.
