Old mulch beds have a way of looking tired fast. They break down, fade out, and end up holding moisture against your foundation - not exactly what you want. That's exactly the situation this property was dealing with. Beds that had run their course and needed a full reset.

We pulled everything out - old mulch, debris, all of it - and cleaned the beds down before laying in fresh basin blue rock. That dark, angular stone is a sharp choice for this kind of property. It sits clean against the siding, holds its look season after season, and doesn't need to be replaced every year or two the way mulch does.

What we liked about this one is how much ground we covered. Front beds wrapping the house, the fence lines in the backyard, the area around the shed - we went all the way around and kept the look consistent throughout. That continuity is what takes a landscaping update from "looks decent" to actually polished.

Rock beds are one of the better low-maintenance upgrades a homeowner can make. No re-mulching every spring. No fading. And they do a solid job suppressing weeds when installed correctly with the right prep underneath. It's a one-time job that pays off for years.

If your beds are overdue for a refresh, swapping out old mulch for rock is worth a serious look. The difference in curb appeal - and the time you get back not having to maintain it - adds up quickly.
