A gazebo is only as good as the foundation it sits on. If the ground underneath isn't properly graded and compacted, you end up with an uneven structure, drainage problems, and a headache that gets worse every season. Getting that base right from the start is what separates a backyard feature that lasts from one that shifts and settles within a couple years.

Here's what we were working with - a backyard that needed a clean, level surface cut in and prepped before any structure could go up. We brought in the Bobcat to handle the grading and a plate compactor to get the base solid and tight. That combination of dirt work and compaction is what gives you a pad that won't move on you.

The area sits right off an existing brick paver surface, tucked into a landscaped yard with established garden beds and mature trees on all sides. Getting the grade right in a space like that takes some care - you're working around existing plantings and hardscape while still hitting the level you need. We kept everything clean and protected the surrounding beds throughout the process.

Once the base is fully compacted and gravel is set, this customer will have a ready-to-build gazebo pad that drains properly and holds its shape. That's what good dirt work does - it handles the unglamorous stuff so everything built on top of it performs the way it should. No shortcuts, no guesswork.

Whether you're planning a gazebo, a shed, or any other backyard structure, the prep work underneath matters more than most people realize. We handle that part so you can focus on what goes on top of it.
